'True Blood's' Alexander Skarsgard Schools Kelly Ripa on Vampire Bites (Video)
Plus, co-host Regis Philbin offers to hold the HBO star’s pants, so he can get naked.
True Blood heartthrob Alexander Skarsgard, who plays the vampire Eric Northman, appeared on Live With Regis and Kelly on Wednesday. And it seemed that the co-hosts weren’t immune to his charming good looks.

Skarsgard, whose father is an actor in Sweden, described how he started his career at seven years old and then quit at 13, because he didn’t like the media circus.
After serving in the Royal Swedish Navy, Skarsgard said he returned to acting, because he didn’t know what to do with his life and missed it. He does say the military experience came in handy during his acting career.
“I worked on another HBO show before True Blood called Generation Kill,” he says. “And it helped a lot. That guy was also a team leader sergeant and that’s what I did in the navy in Sweden.”
Things started heating up when Regis Philbin brought up that Kelly Ripa’s physical therapist wanted to know if she could bite Skarsgard and the co-hosts wondered if that was a common request for the actor.
“It’s more common that they want me to bite them,” Skarsgard clarifies. “Because I play a vampire on the show. You don’t bite a vampire. What’s the point?”

Then, Ripa asked what would happen if she bit a vampire and Skarsgard schooled her on the effects of vampire blood. “On True Blood, our blood is pretty special, so you get high,” he says.
He later adds, “I’d have to bite you back and then it would be pretty special.”
It was at that point (about 7:52 in to the video below), that Ripa admits, “I don’t even know what’s happening right now, but I like it.”
Later in the interview, the topic of nudity comes up and Skarsgard explains why he’s so comfortable being nude. “I’m from Sweden,” he says with a smile.
He then jokes, “Let’s get naked.” To which, Ripa offers to hold his jacket. And then, Philbin hilariously chimes in, “I’ll hold your pants.”
