Following an increasingly competitive development season that featured hefty commitments and an increase in straight-to-series orders, the broadcast networks are gearing up for a busy pilot season as they compete with not only each other but also Netflix and cable.

Established showrunners including Vince Gilligan (Breaking Bad) and Tina Fey (30 Rock) are returning to the pool with series commitments at CBS and NBC, respectively. The CW and CBS are looking to launch spinoffs of established series Arrow and How I Met Your Mother, respectively, while Fox is turning to The Mentalist's Bruno Heller to tell the origin story of Batman's Gotham City and Commissioner Gordon. For its part, ABC has remakes of British comedies and Israeli and Australian dramas in the works as well as a new hour executive produced by Grey's Anatomy and Scandal masterminds Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers.

Here's a look at the pilots in contention for the 2014-15 television season, as ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and The CW sift through the numerous development projects and move forward in a bid to find the next breakout comedies and dramas. The Hollywood Reporter will be updating throughout pilot and casting season, so be sure to bookmark this page and come back for the latest news.

(Note: Not included are limited/event and miniseries or other projects earmarked for the summer.)
