TV Ratings: ABC's 'Desperate Housewives' and 'Pan Am' Tumble Double-Digits
The undefeated Green Bay Packers powered NBC to a ratings win on Sunday. NBC Sports pre-show Football Night in America and the Sunday Night Football matchup between the Packers and the Atlanta Falcons pulled in 16.2 million viewers with a 6.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic from 7-11 p.m. And although ratings are preliminary and will change, that will still be more than enough to put NBC ahead of the competition for the fifth straight Sunday since the regular season began.
CBS saw its primetime shift by 36 minutes due to football and averaged a 3.2 rating with 12.1 million viewers from 7-11 p.m., followed by ABC (2.0 rating, 7.2 million), Univision (1.1 rating, 2.9 million) and Fox (1.0 rating, 2.6 million).
ABC saw it’s primetime drop across the board week-to-week. America’s Funniest Home Videos and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition were down 7 percent and 5 percent, respectively. Desperate Housewives averaged a 2.7 rating in the demo with 8.4 million viewers, to tie a series low in the demo and hit a new low in total viewers. And new drama Pan Am tumbled 27 percent week-to-week averaging a 1.9 rating with 6.4 million viewers for third in the 10 p.m. time slot.
Fox was hampered by a rained out ALCS Game 2. The Cleveland Show was joined in progress at 7:12 p.m. in 17 percent of the country. A second rerun of Cleveland at 7:30 p.m. averaged a 1.0 rating (2.2 million) followed by a two-hour rerun of The X Factor, which pulled in a 1.1 rating (3.0 million).
