TV Ratings: Adam Richman's 'Food Fighters' Serves up a Soft Start
NBC's new culinary competition starring the Travel Channel personality makes a minor impact at 8 p.m., though that doesn't stall "America's Got Talent."
NBC's aggressive summer slate continued to roll out on Tuesday night with the premiere of Food Fighters. Ordered to series more than 16 months ago, the culinary competition averaged a fairly soft 1.0 rating among adults 18-49 and 4.6 million viewers when it finally hit the air. That said, the series did grow significantly between its first and second half-hours.
The host of Food Fighters, Travel Channel's Adam Richman, recently suffered a bit a P.R. problem when his comments from a colorful (i.e. nasty) argument in his Instagram feed drew media attention — and prompted Travel to delay the premiere of his latest cable series, Man Finds Food.
After the series premiere at 8 p.m., a new America's Got Talent (2.4 adults) easily topped the night — though it did shed two-tenths of a point from its last original.
Competition was relatively nonexistent for NBC. The only other broadcast network airing originals for the night, ABC, had a steady Extreme Weight Loss (0.9 adults) and a depleted outing of Celebrity Wife Swap (0.8 adults). The series was off three-tenths of a point from last week.
