NBC had a winner when it debuted The Voice, but with the return of America’s Got Talent, things are looking even better.

Last night’s two-hour America’s Got Talent premiere improved 17 percent in the adults 18-48 demographic, drawing a 4.2 rating, and saw a 21 percent boost in total viewers, averaging 15 million viewers. The second hour of Talent was the most-watched hour (16.6 million) on Tuesday night.

Talent boosted The Voice at 10 p.m., which as of late had been dipping in the ratings. In fact, Voice drew its highest tune-in for an episode, luring in 14.4 million for the last of the battle rounds. Though the episode wasn’t the highest-rated (that belongs to the series debut, which garnered a 5.1), it snagged a 4.9.

The one-two punch of Talent and Voice was enough for NBC to rank No. 1 as Tuesday’s most-watched network, but it placed second in the demo after ABC, which broadcast the NBA Finals.

ABC’s telecast of Game 1 of the NBA Finals between the Miami Heat and the Dallas Mavericks generated its highest overnight rating (10.7) since 2004 -- when it drew a 11.5, according to Niesen.
