TV Ratings: 'Big Brother' Matches Season High, Univision Places Third
As the season finale nears on Big Brother, the CBS reality series matched summer highs.
Big Brother (8.2 million total viewers, 3.2 rating in adults 18-49 demographic) was easily the night's highest-rated primetime telecast on broadcast, with NBC's America's Got Talent being the only formidable opponent. The series matched season highs among adults 18-49 and adults 18-34 and drew the second largest audience this summer. Even with reruns following, CBS won the night on the strength of Big Brother's performance, averaging a 2.0 rating.
Minute to Win It (5.4 million, 1.4) opened the night on NBC. America's Got Talent (10.3 million, 2.5) won its 9 p.m. time period, but placed second behind Big Brother in the key demo. Talent matched its lowest rating of the summer, down 22 percent from its previous average for a Wednesday telecast. Though NBC was the most-watched network for the night, the network was No. 2 behind CBS in the demo, averaging a 1.7.
Univision placed third in the ad-coveted demo with a 1.6 rating, but had the top-rated scripted program, La Fuerza Del Destino (The Power of Destiny) (4.3 million, 1.9), for the night. ABC followed, averaging a 1.5 in the demo, while Fox followed with an original Buried Treasure (3.3 million, 1.0).
