TV Ratings: 'Big Brother' Win Boosted by NFL-Aided Thursday
CBS tops the night in viewers and 18-49
Big Brother will take home another victory, even with NFL preemptions on CBS for a portion of the country.
Boosted by preseason football, early numbers — subject to some adjustment — indicate Big Brother averaged 7.5 million total viewers and a 2.5 rating among adults 18-49 at 9 p.m. Thursday. CBS was preempted in 27 percent of the U.S. in the 8 p.m. hour, 23 percent at 9 p.m. and 13 percent at 10 p.m. CBS will likely win the evening in viewership and adults 18-49.
Other networks were also preempted in parts of the U.S. for preseason football.
ABC's two-hour The Quest (3.9 million, 0.9), airing 8-10 p.m., saw a slight boost, while the World's Wildest Commercials (4.2 million, 1.1) special outdrew its lead-in.
NBC's back-to-back airings of Welcome to Sweden (4.6 million, 1.2), including the season finale, jumped significantly from last week's 0.7 rating.
Fox and The CW aired a night of encores.
