Big Brother lost little steam from last Wednesday's premiere, topping the night in total viewers and the key demo.

The CBS show netted a steady 1.8 rating among adults 18-49 and 6 million viewers over its hour-long run, leading into a dead-even outing of American Gothic. The new drama held last week's premiere score of a 0.7 rating among adults 18-49.

CBS won the night despite continued U.S. Olympic trials on NBC. The latest — swimming finals — pulled a 1.2 rating in the key demo before back-to-back episodes of The Night Shift. The drama earned a 0.8 rating among adults 18-49 during both of its hours, also pulling 4.6 million viewers.

MasterChef held its recent 1.1 rating among adults 18-49 on Fox, while Wayward Pines was marginally improved for a 0.8 rating in the key demo.

ABC and The CW aired repeats.
