TV Ratings: Boosted 'American Idol' Wins Wednesday for Fox
With plenty of repeats across the dial, "Modern Family" returns up a shade -- lifting "Mixology" in the process.
American Idol gave Fox a nightly win among adults 18-49 and total viewers on Wednesday, improving its showing two-tenths of a point from last week with a 2.1 rating. The two-hour episode also averaged 8.9 million viewers.
Modern Family returned from a break with a 3.4 rating in the key demo -- up a tenth of a point. The Middle (1.8 adults) and Suburgatory (1.6 adults) shed a respective two- and one-tenth of a point, while Mixology (1.5 adults) improved three-tenths with an original lead-in. Nashville aired a music special (1.0 adults) at 10 p.m., giving ABC a nightly showing of a 1.7 demo rating and 5.6 million viewers.
Survivor (2.2 adults), off just a tenth of a point from the last week, was the lone original on CBS -- while NBC aired all repeats.
Arrow (1.7 adults) held even on the CW, and The 100 (0.6 rating) was up by a tenth of a point.
