TV Ratings: 'Empire' and 'Survivor' Share Wednesday Wins
Empire hovered near its recent lows on Wednesday night, averaging a 2.1 rating among adults 18-49. That score was still enough to top the rest of broadcast for the evening, albeit down two-tenths of a ratings point from the prior week.
With an even episode of event series Shots Fired, directed by the late Jonathan Demme, Fox brought a 0.8 rating in the key demo at 8 p.m. and secured a demo victory for the night.
CBS was close behind. With an unmoved Survivor averaging a 1.7 rating among adults 18-49 and 8.4 million viewers, the network scored most watched status for the night. Neighbors Criminal Minds (1.2 adults) and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders (0.8 adults) were steady as well.
ABC doubled up on Black-ish. The network put out back-to-back episodes — each of which managed a 1.2 rating among adults 18-49. That score was shared by lead-in Speechless. The network's other Wednesday options, The Goldbergs and Designated Survivor, pulled a respective 1.4 and 1.1 rating among adults 18-49. The latter was slightly improved from the prior week, the only broadcast series up for the night.
Blindspot (0.9 adults), Law & Order: SVU (1.1 adults) and Chicago P.D. (1.2 adults) were steady on NBC, while The CW posted even episodes of Arrow (0.5 adults) and The 100 (0.3 adults).
