After a fair debut in 2014, Extant's sophomore ratings have started out on decidedly smaller note.

The CBS drama averaged just a 0.7 rating among adults 18-49 in its return, a series low and off more than 50 percent from its series premiere. Thanks to a streaming deal with Amazon, it will see a larger audience and doesn't need a strong linear performance to be profitable, but it was still broadcast's lowest-rated original outing of the night.

CBS also had the night's highest-rated show in a new episode of Big Brother (1.8 adults), off three-tenths of a point from last week's premiere.

Steady episodes of MasterChef (1.4 adults) and Bullseye (0.9 adults) aired on Fox — while ABC had an original Celebrity Wife Swap (0.8 adults) at 10 p.m.
