TV Ratings: 'Go On' Sees Solid Debut, 'New Normal' Matches Preview, 'The Voice' Drops
UPDATED: NBC's new Tuesday lineup also sees "Parenthood" returning shy of its last premiere, while the penultimate episode of this season's "So You Think You Can Dance" is steady for Fox.
NBC, launching its complete Tuesday lineup against many encores, topped the rest of the broadcasts networks among adults 18-49 (a 2.9 rating) and total viewers (8.4 million) last night. An hourlong episode of The Voice, down three-tenths of a point from the previous night's two-hour average, posted a 3.9 rating with 18-49-ers.
At 9 p.m., the official premiere of Matthew Perry's Go On posted a strong 3.4 rating in the demo. It's the best demo showing for a comedy since 2010's Outsourced, which had a stronger lead-in with The Office. At 9:30 p.m., the premiere of The New Normal lost 25 percent of its lead-in, pulling a 2.5 rating in the demo -- but the comedy did match its preview rating from the night before.
Parenthood returned to the schedule with a 1.9 adults rating, matching its recent finale but falling 14 percent from its 2011 return following America's Got Talent.
Univision was behind NBC with an average 1.6 rating with adults 18-49, placing just ahead of Fox's two-hour haul for So You Think You Can Dance. The competition, heading into its season finale, brought in 4.3 million viewers and a steady 1.5 rating among adults 18-49 -- despite shifting from Wednesday to Tuesday this week.
Encores, including a displaced Hawaii Five-0 (1.1 adults rating), earned CBS a 1.2 rating among adults 18-49 and 7.5 million viewers for the night. ABC also was in repeats, pulling a 0.7 rating among 18-49-ers and 2.4 million viewers.
The CW aired encores of Hart of Dixie and The Next, averaging a 0.3 rating with adults 18-49 and 670,000 viewers for the night.
