CBS' continued coverage of March Madness, which is enjoying significant year-to-year ratings boosts, topped Thursday night in preliminary numbers.

Primetime coverage of Thursday games have the entire block averaging a 2.0 rating among adults 18-49 and 6.6 million viewers ahead of any time zone adjustments. That puts it in a competitive situation to easily win the night by both measures — and, where the demo is concerned, by quite a wide margin.

The only other significant player for the night was ABC. A new Grey's Anatomy topped scripted performers on Thursday with an average 1.9 rating in the key demo and 7.8 million viewers. Scandal followed with a 1.3 rating among adults 18-49, with The Catch trailing at 10 p.m. with a 0.7 rating. All three dramas were steady with their scores the previous Thursday.

NBC was a mix of originals and repeats. Superstore started the night with a steady 1.1 rating among adults 18-49, while The Blacklist spinoff Redemption wrapped things up with 0.7 rating.

On Fox, both MasterChef Junior (1.1 adults) and Kicking & Screaming (0.6 adults) were unmoved from the previous week.
