TV Ratings: 'Modern Family' Rises, Just Shy of 'American Idol's' Wednesday Win
Fast affiliate ratings give the ABC comedy a slight boost in adults 18-49, placing it in a close second to Fox's dominant demo showing.
American Idol brought home another Wednesday win for Fox, pulling a 4.4 rating with adults 18-49 and 16.1 million viewers, according to fast affiliate ratings. The demo score is three-tenths of a point shy of last week's final and likely will get a small bump later Thursday.
CBS nabbed second in both the demo (2.7 rating) and viewers (10.6 million). Survivor was up a tenth for a 2.7 with 18-49-ers, followed by Criminal Minds (down two-tenths to a 2.8) and the season finale of CSI, which rose a tenth of a point from last week, pulling a 2.4 rating among adults 18-49.
The Middle was the only ABC series to dip, shedding just a tenth of a point for a season-low rating of 1.9 among adults 18-49. Suburgatory rose 5 percent to a 2.1 in the demo, and Modern Family was up two-tenths of a point for a 4.3 rating with adults 18-49 -- placing it just shy of American Idol's demo score. Don't Trust the B---- in Apt. 23 was steady with a 2.3, and Revenge rose to a 2.2. All in all, ABC pulled a 2.5 rating with 18-49-ers and 7.1 million viewers.
On NBC, both broadcasts of Betty White's Off Their Rockers saw growth, posting respective a 1.5 and 1.6 rating among adults 18-49. But Rock Center With Brian Williams dipped 20 percent to a 0.8 in the demo, and Law & Order: SVU also lost two-tenths of a point from last week, pulling a 1.7 adults rating. NBC saw a 1.3 rating with adults 18-49 for the night and 4.9 million viewers.
America's Next Top Model posted a 0.4 rating among adults 18-49 on The CW.
