American Idol propelled Fox to a nightly win in both adults 18-49 and total viewers on Wednesday, though the 2.1 demo rating (off a tenth) marked a series low showing for the night. Fox took 9.2 million viewers during its two-hour primetime block.

The Middle (1.9 adults) dropped a tenth of a point on ABC, while Suburgatory (1.4 adults) dropped two-tenths to tie a series low. Modern Family, one of the night's few series to improve from its most recent showing, was up a tenth of a point for a 3.5 rating with adults 18-49. The original lead-in helped Mixology (1.7 adults) recover half of a point from last week, and Nashville (1.3 adults) dropped a tenth to tie a low as well.
