TV Ratings: 'Mr. Robot' Opens OK for USA
USA's new hacker drama Mr. Robot, which has made waves with its audacious marketing campaign, opened to a modest 2.83 million viewers last Wednesday.
Live-plus-3 ratings for the initial broadcast and 11 p.m. encore brought the rookie series to 3.7 million viewers.
In the key demos, Mr. Robot averaged 1.04 million adults 18-49 and 1.20 million adults 25-54.
Although Mr. Robot's 3.7 total viewers are slightly behind the audience that tuned in for the bow of limited series Dig back in March (3.8 million viewers), it's a leap ahead of the premiere of USA's other new summer series, Complications (2.78 million viewers).
Another promising sign is the 2.7 million who watched the pre-linear premiere of Mr. Robot, which was made available online nearly a full month before its traditional cable launch.
USA renewed Mr. Robot for a second season hours ahead of the show's Wednesday launch. Universal Cable Productions also inked an overall deal with the series' creator Sam Esmail.
