TV Ratings: NBA Finals Continue to Rise as Miami Nears Championship
Fast affiliate numbers have ABC's broadcast of Game 4 poised for more gains, while Fox places a solid second with its steady Gordon Ramsay block.
If the Miami Heat continue their current streak, the NBA Finals won't go past Game 5. Tuesday night's matchup with the Oklahoma City Thunder marked the third win in a row for Miami -- and more ratings gains for ABC.
Fast affiliate numbers give Game 4 a 6.0 rating among adults 18-49 and 13.9 million viewers. ABC also had a special installment of Jimmy Kimmel Live! (2.5 adults rating) and NBA Countdown (2.8 adults rating), pushing the network to a win with a 4.9 rating among 18-49-ers and 11.6 million viewers before the inevitable bump from time-zone adjustments.
Coming in second and weathering the basketball competition well was Fox's block of Hell's Kitchen and MasterChef. Despite having to go against the NBA, the scores were relatively unchanged from the previous Tuesday's outing. Hell's Kitchen was even with a 2.2 rating among adults 18-49, while MasterChef slipped just a tenth of a point for a 2.0 in the demo. Overall, Fox had a 2.1 adults rating for the night and 5.2 million viewers.
NBC aired back-to-back repeats of America's Got Talent followed by a new outing of Love in the Wild. The dating series was down 13 percent from last week for a 1.3 rating among adults 18-49. The network had a 1.5 adults rating and 5.9 million viewers for the night.
Encores filled the CBS lineup, earning the network 7.1 million viewers and a 1.2 rating among adults 18-49.
Over on The CW, a new episode of The Catalina pulled a 0.4 rating with the demo.
