TV Ratings: Preseason Football Returns Down, Wrestlemania Improves
NBC tops the night with its diverse sports offerings, and "Big Brother" takes a hit against the competition.
The start of the NFL season is exactly one month off, but football staged a semireturn on Sunday night with the start of the preseason.
The Hall of Fame game between the Giants and the Bills averaged a 2.5 rating with adults 18-49. It was enough to easily win the night, but it was off 26 percent from the comparable preliminaries last summer. (That number will go up in finals.)
Wrestlemania also performed better than its last outing on NBC, doubling its previous score for a 1.2 rating in the key demo.
CBS will likely see some changes once PGA overages are taken into account, but, as it stands, Big Brother (1.9 adults) is off three-tenths of a point. Unforgettable (1.0 adults) and Reckless (0.6 adults) were steady.
Wipeout (0.9 adults) and Rising Star (0.9 adults) were also both even on ABC.
