CBS topped the broadcast pack on an especially quiet Wednesday night thanks to the evening's lone non-sports original, Undercover Boss.

The network aired a new episode of the reality franchise to the tune of a 1.1 rating among adults 18-49 and 6.3 million viewers. It was flat with the first two airings of this season, plopped in the slimly programmed tail of the calendar year.

Though no other broadcast network bothered with any new episodes of regular series Wednesday, Undercover Boss did not win by default. The show topped the Big Four's only other effort — another NCAA football bowl game on Fox.

The Foster Farms Bowl between Indiana and Utah, which will see some adjustments once time zones are taken into account, averaged an early 0.7 rating in the key demo and 2.7 million viewers.

ESPN also aired a primetime bowl game Wednesday night. Ratings for the Russell Athletic Bowl between West Virginia and Miami will arrive later in the day.
