TV Ratings: USA's 'Benched' Debuts Slightly Higher Than 'Playing House'
USA's newest comedy entry Benched did comparable ratings business to Playing House.
The rookie half-hour effort, led by Happy Endings alum Eliza Coupe, premiered at 10 p.m. on Tuesday to 877,000 viewers, slightly higher than the premiere of Playing House, which drew 847,000 in April.
Benched also performed higher than Playing House among the advertiser-coveted adults 18-to-49 demographic, averaging 495,000. Playing House, to compare, had 10,000 fewer viewers. In 25-to-54, Benched averaged 448,000 and in 18-to-34, drew 307,000.
Across all platforms and including all encores, the comedy amassed a total of 1.6 million viewers.
What's significant to note is that although Benched did better than Playing House, the latter still remains on the bubble for a renewal. The only comedy receiving a season-two order from USA was the Denis Leary-produced Sirens.
