TV Ratings: 'Wipeout' Premiere Outdraws Sinking 'Duets,' Fox's Dating Block Dips
Univision tops the Big Four among adults 18-49 as Olympic trials continue and most originals see demo declines.
Thursday was particularly soft for the broadcast networks despite original blocks from ABC, NBC and Fox. Univision took the night among adults 18-49, edging out the closest competition by one-tenth of a point for a 1.4 demo rating for the night.
ABC and CBS split second place, each posting a 1.3 adults 18-49 rating, with CBS' block of encores also posting the night's strongest audience: 6.5 million viewers.
A new Duets kicked off the ABC block, hitting a series-low 1.0 rating among adults 18-49. It led into the considerably stronger summer premiere of Wipeout. Earning a 1.9 adults rating, it was the series' strongest showing in the demo since January. The recently renewed Rookie Blue was down 15 percent for a 1.1 in the demo, and ABC averaged 5 million viewers for the night.
Fox posted a 1.1 rating among adults 18-49 and 2.6 million viewers for the night. Dating series Take Me Out and The Choice both dropped -- 17 and 20 percent, respectively -- for a respective 1.0 adults rating and a 1.2 adults rating.
The Olympic trials continued on NBC, posting a 1.7 adults 18-49 rating with the swimming finals. Canadian import Saving Hope rebounded from last week's small number and earned a 0.7 rating in the demo. Rock Center With Brian Williams was steady with a 0.8 adults rating, giving the network a 1.0 rating in the demo and 4.3 million viewers for the night.
A new episode of Breaking Pointe posted a 0.3 adults rating on The CW.
