'Animal Practice' Grad to Play Rupert Grint's Brother in CBS Comedy Pilot
Tyler Labine will co-star in the half-hour project "Super Clyde" from Greg Garcia.
Animal Practice alum Tyler Labine is headed back to CBS.
Labine, who starred in the network's short-lived comedy Mad Love, has joined Greg Garcia's half-hour Super Clyde pilot toplined by Harry Potter's Rupert Grint, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Super Clyde centers on meek, unassuming fast-food worker Clyde (Grint), who decides to become a superhero.
STORY: TV Pilots 2013: The Complete Guide
Labine will play Clyde's older brother Duke, an ex-jock type who is the kind of crass slob whose imagination doesn't go anywhere beyond his own creature comforts. Duke gets an unexpected windfall: a long-delayed $100,000 per month inheritance from his dead uncle, Bill.
Garcia will write and executive produce the single-camera comedy under his new deal at CBS Television Studios. Super Clyde is one of two pilots the network has ordered from the showrunner, with an untitled family comedy also set up. Mike Fresco (Raising Hope, My Name Is Earl) will direct the pilot.
In addition to Mad Love, Labine most recently starred in NBC's Animal Practice, canceled after a handful of episodes, and counts Sons of Tucson, Reaper, Boston Legal and Invasion as TV credits. On the film side, he has several down the pipeline, including Best Man Down, Someone Marry Barry and That Burning Feeling.
Labine is repped by CAA.
