'Vampire Diaries': 11 Top Moments From 'The Five,' Including That Crazy Reveal
The latest episode introduced a development that could change everything for Elena, who continues to struggle to fully grasp her new vampire state. Plus, other top moments from "The Five."
[Warning: Major spoilers from Thursday's episode.]
Anything goes on The Vampire Diaries.
First, Elena (Nina Dobrev) turned into a vampire in the season three finale. Now, there may be a way around that as the latest episode, "The Five," revealed. There must be more to the "cure" -- introducing the possibility that a vampire can be reversed back to his/her original state, aka human -- than meets the eye, and already viewers were speculating Thursday about the possibilities.
One viewer tweeted, "hope #tvd
THR highlights the biggest moments from "The Five":
8:04 p.m.: Elena reaffirms to Stefan (Paul Wesley) that it’s him who matters to her more, not who is teaching her to feed (aka Damon). Doubtful that that’s the case, but we’ll go with it – for now.

8:05 p.m.: Rebekah (Claire Holt) buys a brand spanking new car for Matt (Zach Roerig); Klaus (Joseph Morgan) is so onto her transparent motives that he piques her interest by introducing the notion that The Five is probably still a thing. Yup, Rebekah’s interested, but she isn’t about to let her “estranged” brother see that.
8:08 p.m.: Damon (Ian Somerhalder) utters the word, “Witchipedia.” Genius.
8:11 p.m.: It’s the first flashback – to the 12th century, no less – of the season! During Stefan and Klaus’ little chat, the latter reveals a tiny tidbit of information: Rebekah fell in love with one of The Five, a group that’s been around for 900 years. There’s a slight catch, and Stefan is tasked to lure Rebekah over to provide needed support; after all, she must be knowledgeable about her vampire hunter lover Alexander.
8:17 p.m.: Elena unsuccessfully compels her first victim, waffling when she sees a photo of the college student’s sibling. Damon, of course, is disappointed. Elena says: “I care because I’m still me. Sorry if that ruins your master plan to make me a supervampire.”

8:21 p.m.: During an awkward dinner conversation with Klaus, Stefan and Rebekah, it’s revealed that the mysterious tattoo only Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) can see is a map that leads to a “weapon.”
8:27 p.m.: At the college frat party, Elena successfully compels (and feeds) on a poor, unsuspecting college kid. “I want more!” Elena exclaims. What has Damon done?
8:31 p.m.: It's flashback-Rebekah, who finds out about the “very special weapon” for a “very special vampire." “[Alexander] said there was a cure,” Rebekah reveals. Seems like a convenient time for Stefan to learn this, seeing that Elena’s a newly turned vampire. “You have a chance to save Elena,” Klaus tells Stefan moments later. Enticing offer, and damn, it’s obvious the Salvatore will try his damndest to make sure it happens.
8:40 p.m.: Elena’s getting quite comfy in her new Damon-esque ways and the two find themselves dancing away their problems, with blood all over their lips.
8:50 p.m.: Meanwhile, Stefan’s worried that the moment Elena loses her humanity, the Elena we know will be lost forever. In a moment of weakness, Stefan tricks Rebekah into telling Stefan where the sword is buried (with her vampire hunter). Then, Klaus daggers her – just as she wishes him to.
8:56 p.m.: “You don’t want to be like me.” Damon takes the words out of Elena’s mouth after they get back from their college road trip. She’s continuing to struggle with her life as a vampire, but little does she know, there could be some way out.
8:59 p.m.: Aha! It’s Connor (Todd Williams) and Professor Shane (David Alpay). So there’s more to the new professor than we thought.
What are your thoughts on the new vampire "cure"?
