It pays to be an Olympic champion.

After U.S. gymnast Gabrielle Douglas took home the gold medal in the women's all-around final on Aug. 2, cast members as well as executive producer Julie Plec from her favorite television show, The Vampire Diaries, tweeted their congratulations.

"Love watching the #TVDFamily rally for @gabrielledoug," Plec wrote on Twitter at the time. It comes as no surprise then that the Vampire Diaries crew, including Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley and Michael Trevino, put together a video message for the 16-year-old gymnast.

"We'd like to congratulate you and the U.S. women's team on your gold medal," said Wesley, before castmates bid her good luck on remaining event finals Tuesday.

Douglas isn't the only Olympian receiving notice following her accomplishments in London. Seventeen-year-old swimmer and five-time medalist Missy Franklin, who is a fan of Justin Bieber, received an invitation to go backstage at a Bieber concert.

Will Douglas be making a cameo in Mystic Falls?
