'Vampire Diaries': Klaus Is Running the Show, Executive Producer Says (Video)
Julie Plec reveals some tidbits on what viewers should expect when the CW series returns Thursday.
The Vampire Diaries returns Thursday night and here's a chance to watch a preview of the third season premiere -- with some insight from an executive producer.
When the third season opens, Elena is on a mission to search for her love, Stefan, while Damon is trying to fulfill his civic duty to protect and watch over her while he's away.
"She has been diligently looking for Stefan. No word from him. No sense of what's going on with him. And doesn't even know if he's alive or dead," executive producer Julie Plec says in the video, which features Damon in the nude. (It's the same scene that was shown at Comic-Con.)
While Elena thinks Damon isn't looking for Stefan hard enough, he teams up with Alaric to follow up on a lead, which turns out to be the aftermath of a Stefan-Klaus incident.
"Klaus is just running the show on that side of the story. Klaus is bad. Klaus is evil," Plec says.
She touched on other storylines going on in "The Birthday," set during Elena's 18th birthday party, including Jeremy's visions of his dead exes.
"In this episode, we'll see him open up and share his secret for the first time to an unlikely person," she teased.
Plec also offered some teasers for the Tyler-Caroline romance.
The Vampire Diaries airs its third season premiere Thursday at 8 p.m. on the CW.
