'Vampire Diaries' Launches Social Media Game

The television series is the latest to try and expand its reach online.

The Vampire Diaries has launched a social media game, appropriately called Get Sucked In.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment's new game, available on Facebook, broadens the CW series' world, with users being able to explore and complete missions tasked to them by characters like Elena. (See a screenshot of the virtual game above.)

The game will test users' knowledge of the Thursday night drama about Mystic Falls and its characters. It will also allow them to user Facebook credits to purchase items in the game to complete collections, receive prizes and unlock different areas.

Vampire Diaries, whose cast members, crew and producers are regular Twitter users, is the latest series to use social media to expand their reach. CBS' The Big Bang Theory debuted its own Internet game, USA Network's Burn Notice recently launched the second volume of their digital interactive comic series and Fox's Fringe began its own web comic.

The Vampire Diaries airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on the CW.
