'Vampire Diaries': 'Veronica Mars,' 'Girlfriends' Actors Enter Into Bonnie's Life

The Vampire Diaries has cast two new characters who will be playing pivotal roles in Bonnie's life.

Veronica Mars alum Robert Ri'chard has landed the role of Bonnie's potential love interest Jamie, who will be seen in the 12th episode when the beloved CW drama returns for the remainder of its third season next year, The Hollywood Reporter confirms.

In the episode, Bonnie and Elena go on a road trip and that's when they meet the handsome Jamie, with whom Bonnie is drawn to. Now that Bonnie and Jeremy are on the outs, Jamie -- who may become a recurring character -- may provide a breath of fresh air.

In the same episode, viewers will meet Bonnie's mother Abby, who will be played by Persia White (Girlfriends). And she may or may not have a connection to Jamie.

Ri'chard recently appeared on TBS' Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns.

E! Online first reported Ri'chard's casting, while EW broke the news on White's booking.
