The Vampire Diaries has a new (and longer!) season-six trailer.

Following a 30-second promo released in August, The CW has unveiled more footage offering much more context to the new world Elena (Nina Dobrev) finds herself in after the gut-wrenching finale that left her without Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Bonnie (Kat Graham).

In the new trailer, Elena attempts to start anew by vocalizing everything that Damon's done and how much he's meant to her in her life.

"I want to thank you for giving me everything I ever wanted: the love that consumed me, adventure, passion. There's nothing more that I could have asked for — except for it to last forever," she says over a montage of happier times for Damon and Elena.

Season six picks up several months later, and Mystic Falls remains a magic-free zone with no immediate danger — just humans going about their daily routine (i.e. jogging, picnicking). Instead, everyone is handling the aftermath of Damon and Bonnie's ... departure in different ways. Elena is desperate to see Damon again (and will do anything to do so), while Stefan (Paul Wesley) has found a new woman who isn't Caroline.

When she asks Stefan to reveal something about himself, he says without a blink, "I'm a vampire." Bets on how she takes the news?

The Vampire Diaries returns Oct. 2 on The CW.
