'The Voice' Preview: Cee Lo Green Keeps His Cool (Exclusive Video)
A new clip for season 3 shows the coach selling himself to a potential contestant: “You have every right to be excited – You just got picked by Cee Lo Green."
Cee Lo Green, with his hip matching outfits, snazzy sunglasses and fluffy white cat, is perhaps the most eccentric of the four coaches on The Voice. But those eccentricities are also what make him so very cool.
A new promo for season 3 of The Voice, debuting exclusively here at The Hollywood Reporter, shows the smooth-talking coach duking it out with his fellow judges – Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton – for a talented contestant.

“Stars aren’t born, they’re made,” Green says at the opening of the clip.
After a contestant sings David Guetta’s “Without You,” all four coaches turn their chairs. While Levine and Shelton argue back and forth, Green stays cool and confident.
“You have every right to be excited – You just got picked by Cee Lo Green,” he says to the contestant.

The Voice, which has been nominated for its first Emmy for outstanding reality competition series, will return for season three with a few new twists.
During the battle rounds, the second phase of competition after the auditions, coaches will be able to “steal” a contestant from another coach's team if that singer does not win his or her battle.
“The steals actually became a silver-lining and sustained something very special about the show in general – that optimism that it offers,” Green told The Hollywood Reporter about the change to the format of the show. “People get five or six chances on this show.”

Then, the show will move into the knockout round. Each team will have 10 members at the beginning. The contestants will choose their own song to perform. On the day of the show, they’ll find out who they are paired up against, which is up to their coach. One of the contestants will then sit in the corner of the stage and watch as the other performs. The coaches will then cut their teams down to five members for the live shows.
Season three of The Voice premieres on Monday, Sept. 10 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
