'The Voice's' Cee Lo Green on Why He Should Have His Own Spinoff
Cee Lo Green has been having a stellar season three on The Voice.
The eccentric singer was the only coach with three contestants still standing going into Tuesday’s show.
However, by the end of the night, Cody Belew had been voted off by America.

When The Hollywood Reporter spoke with Green backstage, he said he couldn’t talk about why his contestant was sent packing.
“I don’t know. I can’t answer that intelligently,” he said. “I’m a little angered, and so my emotional state of being would impair my judgment in how I answer it. And so I’ll plead the Fifth and say he deserves to be here.”
With the new format of The Voice this season, Green is in an interesting position. When there were just eight contestants remaining, Green could claim credit for half of them.
One of the remaining contestants on Adam Levine’s team, Amanda Brown, was at first on Green’s team but was stolen during the battle rounds. And Green had three contestants -- Belew, Nicholas David and Trevin Hunte -- still remaining on his team, while Christina Aguilera only had one, and Blake Shelton and Levine had two each.
On Tuesday’s show, when the cameras weren’t rolling, Brown was seen waving to Green and saying “thank you” from across the stage.

“People need to remember this: Nobody turned around for Amanda Brown but me. Nobody turned around for Cody Belew but me. Nobody turned around for Nicholas but me,” he told THR. “So, four of my people were in the remaining. What does that say about Cee Lo Green?”
Green is known for helping his unique contestants create a full-on show during their performances, which usually involves a lot of stage production.
“You know what they need to do? They need to go a Cee Lo Green spinoff of The Voice called The Total Package because, ultimately, that’s what it boils down to,” he said. “People want to see a complete thought. Concept, creativity, charisma, character, charm, conviction, connection -- you’ve got to have all of it.”
With Belew leaving the show, Green, Shelton and Levine all have two contestants remaining. Aguilera’s final contestant, Dez Duron, was also voted off.
“He was a diamond in the rough, and the fact that he had to go home doesn’t make him any less of a diamond,” Green said of Belew. “He just may be the centerpiece of some other work of art.”
