'The Voice's' Christina Aguilera on the Elimination of Her Final Contestant
"I’m going to kick my feet up on my chair," the singer said of her plans for the rest of the season now that Dez Duron has been sent home.
It would be understandable if Christina Aguilera was upset after Tuesday’s episode of The Voice. Her final team member, Dez Duron, was sent home as the Top 8 were whittled down to the Top 6.
But while speaking to the press after the show, Aguilera walked the carpet with Duron, and wasn't worried about the soulful singer’s future.

“I think I’m the most relaxed and confident I’ve ever been because I know that this competition does not define this guy,” she said. “I lost one myself earlier on in my career, I’ve gone on to do much bigger and better things. Some people don’t even know what Star Search was.”
Duron sang Justin Bieber’s "U Smile” on Monday’s episode of the show. But appealing to his many female fans didn’t seem to be enough, and he was voted off Tuesday, along with Cee Lo Green’s contestant Cody Belew.
Because America’s votes are the only determining factor for who goes home -- no matter which team they’re on -- Duron was the only remaining contestant on Aguilera’s team. At this point, Green, Shelton and Levine have two contestants each.
Since the structure of the show is different this season, this will be the first time a coach has no more contestants in the race.
Aguilera’s plans for the rest of season three? “Relaxing,” she said.
“I’m going to kick my feet up on my chair,” she said. “I’m excited to be entertained, and of course ...my time will also be occupied with the holidays coming up, keeping in touch with [Duron], making sure he’s good.”
Aguilera argued that it doesn’t ultimately matter who wins NBC’s singing competition -- and used her season two contestant Chris Mann as a perfect example. While Mann finished fourth last season, he’s already released an album -- Roads -- under his new label, Universal Republic.
Aguilera, who appears on Mann’s album in a duet of “The Blower’s Daughter,” said that Mann will appear on The Voice in an upcoming show to perform a song off his album.
“Chris Mann is a prime example. He came in fourth last year, but ultimately, who’s the real winner? Who’s Javier [Colon]? Who’s Jermaine [Paul]?" she said referring to the season one and two winners. "At this point, I think it’s all about Chris Mann, thank you!"
The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on NBC.
