'The Voice's' Javier Colon's Single Hits No. 1 on iTunes: 'So Grateful,' He Says
NBC's singing champ reacts to the breaking news about "Stitch By Stitch."
The Voice’s first champ, Javier Colon, was in the middle of doing press on Thursday about last night's win when he received the news that his original single, “Stitch By Stitch,” had just reached No. 1 on iTunes.

“This is amazing. Wow. I’ve got a No. 1 single on iTunes, man,” Colon tells The Hollywood Reporter moments after hearing the news from his manager. “God, I don’t even know... that with the feelings that I have from last night. Man, it’s amazing. I don’t even know what to say. I’m so grateful. I can’t believe it.”
The song’s hit status and his win on The Voice is a welcome change for the artist after releasing two full-length albums with Capitol dating back to 2002 before the label dropped him. But, Colon says he isn’t holding a grudge.
“I think that everything happens for a reason,” he tells us. “And although I may be upset that things didn’t work out back in the day with my previous record label, whatever happened in my past led me to this moment. That’s what I focus on. I’m not one to hold grudges. I’m not one to harbor any negativity. I like to keep things positive.”
“I’m grateful for the opportunity,” he continues. “Do I wish things went differently and things were handled differently at my previous label? I probably would have said yes… You never know why things happen the way they do, they just happen. I’m just glad this happened the way it did and I’m getting this chance now.”
