AMC on Tuesday released the first official image from the upcoming fifth season of The Walking Dead.

Judging from the photo, Andrew Lincoln's beleaguered former sheriff may not be completely trapped in the railcar in which he ended season four as the group's fearless leader Rick Grimes appears to be seeing the light of day in the photo, at left.

Season four ended when Rick, Daryl, Carl and Michonne were forced into a small railcar where they were reunited with Glenn, Maggie, Abraham, Eugene, Rosita, Bob, Sasha and Tara. Being held hostage by a group of what appear to be cannibals at Terminus and with seemingly little hope for survival, rick declares: "They're screwing with the wrong people."

It's an almost direct quote from the comics -- "You're f--king with the wrong people" -- and sets up what will likely be another bloody battle as Rick and company battle Gareth (new series regular Andrew J. West) for their lives.

"We're ending on a cliffhanger in season four. We're going to be dealing with Terminus in a big way as soon as we come back," executive producer Robert Kirkman told THR following the finale. "We're also going to be dealing with a more capable and prepared Rick Grimes coming out of what he's experienced in this episode. He's going to go into another really awesome direction."

Check out the first look, above, and in case you missed it, The Walking Dead has added another alum from The Wire -- Seth Gilliam-- as a regular for season five. He'll join newly promoted regulars Alanna Masterson (Tara) and Christian Serratos (Rosita) when the zombie drama based on Kirman's comics returns in October. A specific premiere date will likely be announced in July at Comic-Con.
