'Witches of East End' Canceled by Lifetime
The end is here for Witches of East End.
Lifetime has opted not to renew the supernatural witch drama for a third season, ending the one-hour series' run after two seasons.
Witches centered on a family of witches led by Julia Ormond∫ Rachel Boston∫ Jenna Dewan Tatum and Madchen Amick. Eric Winter, Daniel DiTomasso and Christian Cooke also starred in the series loosely based on Melissa de la Cruz's novels that was developed by Maggie Friedman. Fox 21 and 3 Arts produced the series.
Witches' first season averaged 3 million viewers, 1.7 million of them in the advertiser-coveted adults 18-49 demo when DVR is factored in. When it returned for its sophomore run earlier this year, it bled viewership, ending the season with just a little more than 1 million to the two-hour Oct. 3 finale in same-day ratings.
Lifetime's scripted slate includes Un-Real, Damien, a six-hour Lizzie Borden miniseries with Christina Ricci and the newly renewed Devious Maids. Drama pilots at the network include The Clan of the Cave Bear.
