WWE's The Miz to Star in ABC Family Holiday Movie
"Christmas Bounty" is being developed at the network for a 2013 debut.
WWE star The Miz is heading to ABC Family.
WWE Studios and the cable network, home to dramas like Pretty Little Liars and Switched at Birth, are teaming up to develop a holiday television movie for The Miz (whose real name is Mike Mizanin) to star in.
Christmas Bounty, being eyed for a 2013 premiere on ABC Family, would be a part of the network's annual "25 Days of Christmas" programming.
Christmas Bounty, described as an "action-filled comedy," centers on a former bounty hunter-turned-elementary school teacher. Determined to have a normal life, and keep her bounty hunter past a secret, she reluctantly returns home for Christmas to help save the family business by catching the one bounty that got away. When her fiance follows her home for the holiday, she struggles to hide her wild family business and a bounty hunter ex-boyfriend she thought she left behind.
Andrew Black and Vivian Lee, and James Berg and Stan Zimmerman penned the script.
The Miz, who first appeared on season 10 of MTV's The Real World, most recently starred in WWE's The Marine 3: Homefront. He has also guest starred on USA Network's Psych.
Bradley Buchanan, vp business and legal affairs, negotiated the deal on behalf of WWE Studios.
Last year, ABC Family debuted two original holiday films as part of the "25 Days of Christmas" campaign, including the Amy Smart and Mark-Paul Gosselaar telepic 12 Dates of Christmas and Desperately Seeking Santa. This year, the network will launch The Mistle-Tones and the latest installment in the Home Alone franchise.
