The upcoming X-Files revival is getting a visit from one of its biggest fans.

Silicon Valley star — and The X-Files superfan — Kumail Nanjiani will appear in an upcoming episode, "Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster," as an animal control officer who helps Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) in their attempt to catch a mysterious creature.

Nanjiani announced the news on Twitter over the weekend when he posted a photo of himself with series stars Duchovny and Anderson. "The lighting is weird because there is a UFO right above our heads," he captioned the photo.

"I got to be in an ep of my favorite show (X Files) written & directed by my favorite writer (Darin Morgan)," he said in a follow-up tweet. "And this script is wonderful."

Nanjiani has never been shy about his love for the show. He currently hosts The X-Files Files podcast, where he and special guests discuss episodes of the Fox drama.

In addition to returning stars Duchovny, Anderson, Mitch Pileggi and William B. Davis, Nanjiani joins an impressive crop of new additions including Joel McHale, The Americans' Annet Mahendru and Flight of the Conchords alum Rhys Darby.
