YouTube's Shane Dawson, 'Big C' Creator Team for Weight-Loss Comedy at NBC

"Losin' It," which counts Will Gluck and Darlene Hunt among its executive producers, is a workplace comedy inspired by Dawson's real-life experiences as someone who formerly was overweight.

The Big C's Darlene Hunt is teaming with YouTube star Shane Dawson for a weight-loss comedy.

The pair have sold a workplace comedy project titled Losin' It to NBC. The single-camera half-hour, which is inspired by Dawson's real-life experiences as someone who was formerly overweight, is set at a suburban weight-loss center franchise that gets thrown into upheaval when its most successful client decides to share his inspiration by becoming a consultant there -- only to find himself promoted to manager by the end of his first day.

Hunt is set to write and executive produce the project through Sony Pictures TV, where she is under an overall deal. She will be joined by Dawson (as an executive producer) and his producing partner Lauren Schnipper (as a producer), with Dawson, Hunt and Schnipper set to share a story-by credit. Additionally, Will Gluck and Richie Schwartz will exec produce through their active Olive Bridge banner.

The sale marks a reunion for Hunt and NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt, who served as entertainment president at Showtime early in The Big C's run. She worked on short-lived comedy Save Me at the network last season, and currently has a project with longtime Community writer Andy Bobrow in development at rival Fox. The latter, On the Farm, follows a New York dermatologist who moves his family to a farm in rural Kentucky to live a simpler life.

For his part, Dawson is one of the most popular comedians on YouTube, with more than 9 million subscribers across his three YouTube channels. In June, he and Schnipper rolled out a top-rated podcast called Shane and Friends. To date, the 25-year-old California native is best known for his comedic videos featuring a collection of recurring characters, impersonations (think Miley Cyrus and Sarah Palin) and spoofs.

Losin' It is Olive Bridge's eighth comedy pitch sold this broadcast development season. Gluck, who is under an overall deal at Sony TV, is an executive producer and director on NBC's The Michael J. Fox Show as well. Schwartz is a co-executive producer on the Thursday half-hour.

Hunt, Dawson and Gluck are all repped by UTA; Hunt is repped by McKuin Frankel, Dawson by attorney Matt Saver and Gluck by Sloane Offer.
