Discovery Channel Sets 'Gold Rush' Finale as Live 2-Hour Event (Exclusive)

The Discovery Channel series centers on the residents of frozen Alaskan village Tanana -- located just 60 miles from the Arctic Circle, where temperatures last winter hit a record-breaking 60 degrees below freezing -- where the men must hunt and trap to survive. The new season finds the villagers preparing for another brutal winter.

Joining the Yukon men (and women) this season are two newcomers: Dustin comes to Tanana from North Carolina after answering a newspaper ad for a dog handler, while Alaskan native Sam hopes his family will be accepted in the town of only 200, where he must prove that he is there to contribute and not take precious resources.

In this clip from the season premiere, which is exclusive to The Hollywood Reporter, Courtney hunts her first moose, but things don't go so smoothly.

Yukon Men, which is produced for Discovery by Paper Route Productions Inc., returns at 10 p.m. Friday, following the live two-hour season finale of Gold Rush.
