Yvette Nicole Brown Exits 'Community'
Yvette Nicole Brown will not appear on the sixth season of Community.
Sony Pictures Television and Community executive producers Dan Harmon and Chris McKenna have agreed to release Brown from her contract after she asked to leave the show to care for her ailing father, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
Her departure comes as Community gears up to make the jump from NBC, where it aired for its first five seasons, to Yahoo Screen. The streaming video platform has given the cult comedy a 13-episode season order. Brown, who plays Greendale Community College student Shirley Bennett, was expected to return for the show's sixth season along with castmembers Joel McHale, Jim Rash, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie and Ken Jeong.
"Yvette was an integral part of Community and is irreplaceable. We are sad to see her go and wish her the very best," Harmon and McKenna said in a joint statement.
Brown in August signed on to CBS' The Odd Couple. She is set to play the assistant to Matthew Perry's Oscar Madison in the midseason remake.
Brown's departure from Community was first reported by TV Guide.
