"10,000 BC," director Roland Emmerich's excursion into prehistory, matched its No. 1 domestic bow with a first-place opening internationally over the weekend, grossing an estimated $25.3 million from 3,600 screens for a worldwide gross of $61 million.

Warner Bros. International said that "10,000 BC" finished first in 19 of the 20 foreign markets it played. Spain led the pack by providing an estimated $4.5 million from 472 sites -- for a solid per-screen average of $9,534 -- which was 51% of the top five films' market share.

Especially robust bows were recorded in Mexico ($3.8 million from 500 sites), Germany ($2.6 million from 749 situations), Australia ($1.9 million from 221 screens) and Brazil ($1.6 million from 300 playdates). "10,000 BC" opens this weekend in the U.K., France, Italy, Korea and Holland.

20th Century Fox International's "Jumper," which had been No. 1 overseas for the last three frames, finished in second place this stanza with an estimated $12.2 million from 4,002 screens in 49 markets, raising its international total to $96.2 million. The film's Japan opening produced a No. 2 market ranking and an estimated $5.2 million from 554 screens.

Finishing No. 3 on the weekend was Sony's "Vantage Point," which racked up an estimated $10.5 million from 2,870 locations in 31 markets, raising its overseas gross to $28.1 million and $79.8 million worldwide. Sony said the political thriller opened No. 1 in the all-important U.K. market with an estimated $2.8 million from 350 situations.

Finishing fourth and leading the Oscar-winning pack was Paramount Pictures International's release of "No Country for Old Men," which collected an estimated $6.7 million from 1,863 playdates in 51 territories, hoisting its overseas total to $60.1 million. The Coen brothers crime drama finished No. 2 in Italy with an estimated $1.3 million from 278 screens for a market cume of $6.5 million.

Disney's release of Miramax's "There Will Be Blood" will soon became the biggest grosser of director Paul Thomas Anderson's films -- 1999's "Magnolia" currently holds the title with an overseas cume of $26 million -- as it has earned $23.2 million internationally in its early run. The weekend tally was $3.4 million from 1,080 screens in 37 markets.

Fox's "Juno" drew an estimated $2.6 million on the weekend from 1,146 screens in 16 markets, raising its international total to $45.6 million. DreamWorks/Warner's "Sweeney Todd" came up with $2.5 million from about 1,700 sites in 49 markets for an overseas cume of $93.5 million.

Finishing No. 5 was Sony's "The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep," which earned an estimated $5.4 million from 2,675 screens in 39 markets for a cume of $46.1 million. A Spain opening provided $1.1 million from 200 screens, putting the film in the running for fourth market spot.

Notable overall on the weekend was the second consecutive sizzling frame in France, with local-language films dominating the top five.

The biggest solo-market hit of the international weekend overall remained Pathe Distribution's "Bienvenue Chez Les Ch'Tis" (Welcome to the Land of Shtis). Director Dany Boon's feature about a postal worker relocated to a small town in northern France nabbed an estimated $30 million in its second round at 793 screens, down about 20% from its phenomenal $37.7 million opening weekend.



Second place in France went to "Taken," a Europa Corp./20th Century Fox co-production of a drama starring Liam Neeson, followed by TFM Distribution's "Les Femmes De L'Ombre," a drama starring Sophie Marceau. The No. 4 spot in France was claimed by "Paris," a romantic comedy with Juliette Binoche; No. 5 went to "Be Kind Rewind," a comedy/sci-fi outing with Jack Black that New Line Cinema is handling in the U.S.

Meanwhile, Pathe's "Asterix at the Olympics," which had been on fire in France over six weekends, dropped to the No. 9 spot, grossing an estimated $900,000, down 42% from the previous weekend. "Asterix" tallied an estimated $1.9 million overall on the weekend from six markets -- France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal and Latvia.

Universal's "The Other Boleyn Girl" opened No. 2 in the U.K., grossing $4.7 million on the weekend from 980 screens in 12 territories for an early cume of $7 million. Also in the U.K., Disney's "The Game Plan" premiered to an estimated $1.6 million from 500 screens and a No. 3 market ranking, thanks in large part to a promotional push from the film's star, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. New Line's "Semi-Pro" with Will Ferrell dropped from No. 2 in the U.K. last weekend to the No. 9 spot with an estimated $750,000 from about 300 screens.

Fox's "27 Dresses" came up with $4 million from 1,903 screens in 14 territories for a cume of $39 million. Fox's "Meet the Spartans" drew $3.5 million from 1,401 sites in 17 territories for a cume of $18.3 million. Warners' "The Bucket List" pushed its overseas total to $46.9 million thanks to a $3.3 million weekend at 1,700 dates in 31 markets.
