2 cash in on LMN student prize
EmptyThe inaugural LMN Student Filmmaker Competition has awarded Liliana Greenfield-Sanders of New York its first prize, while Jessica Marie Sutherland of Berea, Ohio, took second.
Their winning films will screen Saturday at the 2007 Hamptons International Film Festival. They also will premiere on LMN, a basic-cable women's network, and be available on LMN's Web site.
The first- and second-place winners will receive prizes of $5,000 and $2,500, respectively, a meeting with WMA representatives and an invitation to attend the 2007 Women in Entertainment Power 100 Breakfast hosted by The Hollywood Reporter and Lifetime Networks on Dec. 4.
The competition, designed to discover the next generation of female filmmakers, was sponsored by LMN, The Reporter, WMA, New York Women in Film & Television and Women in Film Los Angeles.
Judges were Jennifer Lopez, producers Lauren Shuler Donner and Gale Anne Hurd, director Mimi Leder and publicist Catherine Olim.
Greenfield-Sander's film "Anna" centers on a young woman and her encounters in New York's East Village. Sutherland's "Seven Turn" is based on the director's memories of her 7th birthday party on the same day her father died.
