Academy Reveals Key Dates for 89th Oscars
This season, the nominating process won't begin until Jan. 5.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Thursday announced its timetable for the 89th Academy Awards, and this season, Academy voters will have a little more time to consider the year-end rush of films before marking up their nominations ballots.
The Oscars themselves will be held on Sunday, Feb. 26, comparable to the same Sunday on which the 88th Academy Awards were held this year.
But the nominations process is moving back on the calendar. Nomination voting will begin on Thursday, Jan. 5, six days later on the calendar than was the case last year when the nomination balloting opened on Dec. 30.
