20th Century Fox, Pinewood Ink Slate Deal
Under the pact, Fox will distribute movies from the production arm of the U.K.-based studio
Pinewood Pictures, the production arm of U.K.-based Pinewood Studios, has struck a slate deal with 20th Century Fox, in which Fox will distribute Pinewood titles in the U.K.
A key title from the upcoming lineup is Spooks: The Greater Good, the full-length feature based on the long-running BBC TV spy series developed by Kudos, part of the Shine group.
The film, due for domestic release May 8, stars Game of Thrones star Kit Harington alongside Spooks regular Peter Firth. Pressure, starring Matthew Goode, Danny Huston and Joe Cole and directed by Ron Scalpello, is also part of the 20th Century Fox deal, although a release date for that film was not revealed.
"We’re really excited to be working with Fox’s world class sales team who I know will achieve the best possible distribution for Pinewood Pictures’ films," said Pinewood Pictures' head of distribution Gemma Spector in an announcement made Wednesday.
Added 20th Century Fox’s managing director of U.K. theatrical Cameron Saunders: "We’re delighted to build upon our position as the U.K.’s leading film distributor and bring Pinewood Pictures’ films to U.K. audiences — giving great British product the first-class ticket they deserve."
Previous films financed by Pinewood Pictures include the Jude Law-starring Dom Hemingway, The Disappearance of Alice Creed and Oscar-nominated animated film Chico & Rita.
