26th Annual GLAAD Media Awards Nominees Announced

'The Imitation Game' is a contender for Outstanding Film - Wide Release

ABC continues its streak of leading the pack with six nominations.

The 26th Annual GLAAD Media Awards nominees have been announced. ABC tops the broadcast networks with six nominations while HBO takes the most noms for a cable network with five nominations

This is the first year that GLAAD expanded the Outstanding Drama Series and Comedy Series from a maximum of five nominees to 10 nominees.  ABC's How to Get Away with Murder, Grey's Anatomy and The Fosters are all contenders for best drama while Netflix's Orange is the New Black picked up a second nomination for best comedy in a row.

"This year's nominees, including expanded categories in Outstanding Comedy and Drama Series, reflect the widening diversity of LGBT images and storylines that are closing the gap to full acceptance," said GLAAD President & CEO Sarah Kate Ellis.

The awards are meant to "honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the LGBT community and the issues that affect their lives." The 26th Annual GLAAD Media Awards will be held on March 21 at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles and in New York on May 9 at the Waldorf Astoria New York.
