3 Euro regions pact for prod'n
EmptyCANNES -- Three European regions are joining forces to try to pull in film production, Spain's regional film platform Catalan Films & TV announced Monday.
The Catalan Institute of Cultural Industries, from Spain's northeastern region of Catalonia; Baden Wuettenberg's state film subsidy body; and France's Rhone-Alpes Cinema signed the accord to facilitate the promotion and theatrical release of films as well as bolster location shoots and talent exchange among the regions.
The regions are particularly prolific film producers in Europe and boast historic ties that bind them.
The agreement also calls for a series of meetings within the framework of markets and co-production forums.
In other news from Spain, Juan Pablo Bayona's "The Orphanage," screening at Critics Week, will open the Oct. 4-14 Sitges International Film Festival, fest director Angel Sala said.
