3D Experience screenings to include U2 film

Inaugural N.Y. confab also will feature a product showcase

The 3D Experience -- a first-time event set for Times Square on Sept. 24-26 -- has announced several screenings of 3D pics set for the industry-and-consumer confab.

Those include concert film "U23D," nature documentary "Sharks 3D," science docs "Sea Monsters: A Prehistoric Adventure" and "Sea Rex 3D: Journey to a Prehistoric World" and eco-pics "Bugs 3D" and "Planet You."

The 3D Experience also will offer an exec forum and large 3D "showroom" showcasing televisions, gaming, cameras and other products, set for Discover Times Square Exposition.

"The 3D industry is booming, and we've witnessed overwhelming interest in participating in The 3D Experience, ranging from the world's leading product manufacturers to blockbuster film directors and game makers, and everything in between," 3D Experience managing director Nino Balistreri said.

Speakers lined up so far include International 3D Society chief Jim Chabin, NASDAQ OMX Group exec vp Bruce Aust, Hewlett-Packard vp-chief technical officer Phil McKinney and NCM exec vp interactive media Ken Venturi. Screenings will take place at the AMC Empire 25.

Special events also are planned for media and VIPs at the NASDAQ MarketSite during the confab.

The 3D Experience is being produced by The Hollywood Reporter's corporate parent, e5 Global Media.
