Rachel Zoe also wowed during NYFW in a pair of sexy stilettos from her spring 2015 collection

Whoopi Goldberg, who made quite the rounds at New York Fashion Week, arrived at Tracy Reese's show last Sunday in distinctly patterned shoes — the same pair she wore that morning at Joan Rivers’ funeral at Manhattan's Temple Emanu-El. Goldberg, who is very vocal about her obsession with distinctive footwear, sported a pair of Lady Poker Mary Janes from Spanish shoe brand Hot Chocolate. With a Queen of Hearts Mary Jane with red trim detailing on her left foot and a Queen of Spades Mary Jane with blue trim on her right, The View host noted that "they are a real pair, even though they are different shoes." This season's front-row queen shared that she wore the spunky shoes as a tribute to the late comedian because “they made her laugh when she saw I had them on.”

In Berlin, Cameron Diaz stood out at the Sex Tape photo call last Friday, wearing an ink navy boatneck minidress and blue suede Salvatore Ferragamo stiletto ankle booties. These four-and-a-quarter-inch, side-zip booties feature a leather-covered heel and round toe silhouette, giving a fresh zing to the ensemble. Props to Diaz for the sleek selection.

Meanwhile in Queens, Serena Williams dominated the court at the U.S. Open, taking home her sixth win, in a pair of Nike Zoom Vapor 9.5 Tour sneakers in black and fuchsia. The reason behind Williams' shoe selection? To stand out on the court. "What I wear on court is a key part of my advantage, so we focused on making my leopard print dress lightweight and allowing for full movement while not compromising my style. Same goes for my shoes — they need to be lightweight for speed to the ball but also super supportive," explained Williams, who showcased her fashion line for HSN to Anna Wintour just two days after her win. What a champ.

Rem Koolhaas, co-founder and creative director of one of the most innovative shoe brands on the scene today, United Nude, attended the Killer Heels exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum with his wife, Ferrari. “I'm very proud that United Nude is represented with no less than eight shoes in the exhibition — including the black platform shoe with golden naked climbing men made especially for Lady Gaga's perfume launch," said Rem. Ferrari represented the brand in a pair of Nova shoes created by famed architect Zaha Hadid for United Nude. The six-and-a-quarter-inch high hidden platform and heel — rendered in mirrored-metallic rubber vinyl and lined with Italian kid Nappa leather — are composed of fiberglass with rubber outsole. The Nova is the first shoe ever to use the rotational molding technique for a seamless, stacked, sculptural effect. Shoes as both art and architecture? We say yes.

Before presenting her own collection during NYFW last Wednesday at New York's Soho House, Rachel Zoe previewed her shoes from the namesake label's spring 2015 range while making the rounds at fashion week. Called Heart, the 10-strap, black platform stiletto features a lug sole and chunky gold zip hardware. Zoe admitted her obsession with them on her Instagram and told us that "they add that edge to a simple dress."
