CES 2012: Fandango Paperless Ticketing System Expanding to 1,000 Screens
The service allows customers to have their movie tickets sent to their mobile phones as barcodes.
LAS VEGAS – NBCUniversal subsidiary Fandango has seen up to 50% of its consumers using its paperless Mobile Ticket system where available.
Launched in 2011, the service now supports 1,200 screens in North America, with an additional 1,000 installations planned in the coming months, according to Mark Young, vp mobile strategy at NBCUniversal’s entertainment and digital networks group. Young was to appear Monday during the Consumer Electronics Show.
Mobile ticketing is offered in select theaters owned by Regal Entertainment Group, Reading Cinemas and Hollywood Theaters.
Aimed at offering added convenience, Mobile Ticket allows customers to have their movie tickets sent to their phones as mobile barcodes, enabling them to bypass box office windows and kiosks.
