German Luggage Company RIMOWA Hosts 1950s-Themed Party at Van Nuys Airport
RIMOWA, the luggage with the grooves, flew a JU52 airplane from Germany to Van Nuys Airport in celebration of the inspiration for the luggage design.
Chris Hemsworth, Danny Masterson, Bijou Philips and Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul were among those celebrating at the Van Nuys Airport on Wednesday, when luxury suitcase brand RIMOWA hosted a 1950s themed party. The fete included a flight over the city on a 1939 JU52 plane (the inspiration for the brand), a live band and stewardesses serving peanuts and German candy.

The unique and fashionable luggage -- adored by fans including Jessica Alba, Joe Jonas and Ashley Greene -- is extremely lightweight (made with airline weight limits in mind) and durable.
“We choose the best quality. We like that our customers are satisfied,” said Dieter Morszeck, grandson of RIMOWA’s founder. “The luggage will last for a long time and quality is so important.”
Paul admitted to being a huge fan of luggage in general, but confessed to not owning one from RIMOWA. “I’ve never owned a bag with wheels on it. I’m always throwing it over my shoulder. [This luggage] is just the coolest,” he said. “I’m going to try to take some of it when I leave.”
The chic pieces have been featured in over 250 movies such as Live Free or Die Hard and Air Force One. RIMOWA’s innovative, signature silver-grooved case (created in the 1950s), is the first made from actual airplane aluminum and to use polycarbonate. “We don’t want to be like the others,” noted Morszeck.
