How to Score Abbey Lee's '90s-Style Deep Plum Lip

She rocked the tribute look at the NYC premiere of 'Gods of Egypt.'

It’s not easy to pull off an almost-black lipstick, but at the Gods of Egypt premiere in NYC on Wednesday night, model/actress Abbey Lee did it marvelously. She paired her deep plum pout with a chic white bandeau and suit, accessorized by another '90s throwback: a choker.

Celebrity makeup artist Daniel Martin — who also works with Jessica Alba, Kirsten Dunst and Emmy Rossum — was behind the bold look that he said was the model’s idea. "When Abbey mentioned she wanted to do a ‘90s lip to dress up her all-white suit, Shirley Manson from the band Garbage immediately was my inspiration."

Key to the look that popped her bright blue eyes: ultra-radiant skin. To accomplish that, Martin used the Dior Skinflash Radiant Booster Pen in Vanilla Glow ($38) as a highlighter all over her face, after applying the foundation. As for the dark lip, he first used Dior Contour Lip Liner in Thrilling Plum ($30) and Dior Addict Lipstick in Black Tie ($37), then followed with a fine-tip eyeliner brush to buff out and soften the edges — the perfect mix of hard and soft.
